Rehoboth Has a Sister City?
On Saturday, April 17 2010 the sister cities agreement was signed in Greve, Italy. Commemorating Giovanni de Verrazzano, mapping the Delaware Coast in 1524. Located on the Boardwalk at Olive Avenue, a monument details Verrazzano's exploration of the Atlantic Coast. After 50 days at sea, Verrazzano first landed at Cape Fear, N.C. On his travels, Verrazzano came upon a place he called Arcadia, which is speculated could have been Assateague Island, Bethany Beach or Rehoboth Beach.
Now City Hall in Greve displays the flags of the United States, Delaware and Rehoboth Beach, and the town of Rehoboth Beach has honored Verrazzano with a recently dedicated monument on the Boardwalk at Olive Avenue. In Spirit of this International event Bin 66 is celebrating the artistic, cultural and educational exchange offered by this partnership in less official but nonetheless unique ways.
We are bringing the Wine!
Bin 66 is proud to be the only local business to offer Verrazzano wines. |
Verrazzano
Rosso Toscana
Eclectic and dynamic red wine, ruby red colour with purplish reflexes, very harmonic taste, round, of good intensity with fragrant notes of flowers and red fruits. Attractive, pleasant wine, well suited to contemporary "fusion" cuisine.
|
Castello di Verrazzano
Chianti Classico
Classic wine, deep ruby red colour with purplish reflexes in youth, intense scent, rich in flavours of red mature fruits such as cherry and blackberry blended with floral notes of red rose. The taste is harmonic and with a great balance, good structure, slightly sapid, with oak striations, a fine and sweet tannic component and pleasant hints of red fruits.

Castello di Verrazzano
Produced only in top vintages, the "Riserva" is one of the most representative wines of the winery and best expresses the varietal characteristics of Sangiovese. Concentrated and incredibly dense, intense ruby colour. The nose gives off variegated aromas that alternate from cherry to wild berry fruit, ennobled with a touch of spice: you can recognize the pepper and cinnamon. At first binding and full, the tannins blend in well with the alcohol. Long lasting taste, which expresses itself in excellent depth. A clean red, with plum and minty fresh herb character. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, caressing finish. Very layered and structured. Well done. What a Chianti Classico Riserva should be.

Castello di Verrazzano
Sassello
Sassello represents the highest expression of the terroir-vine binomial, where Sangiovese creates a unique wine with a deep and impenetrable colour of an intense ruby red, enhanced by purple overtones. The fragrance is fine and intense, wide and persistent, and offers a variety of fruity notes including cherries, blackberries, raspberries underlined by hints of oak and vanilla. The taste is elegant and complex with closely woven tannins both smooth and pleasant joined to notes of fruit and spice, oak and vanilla, with an equally pleasant and long finish. |

Bottega Vinaia
Pinot Grigio
Pale straw gold. Alluring floral perfume of an intensity and persistence rare in a Pinot Grigio. Fresh, dry and flavorful with a firm structure leading into a lingering finish, it displays character and finesse. The Vinaia Pinot Grigio offers an attractive nose of mango and papaya, with hints of lime; full-bodied, with bright acidity and plenty of ripe fruit. |
Bertani
Due Uve
"The name means "two grapes " which aptly describes this beguiling and innovative estate-bottled blend of Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The two varieties are vinified separately a brief cold maceration for Sauvignon Blanc and pressing of the entire grape for Pinot Grigio. The two wines are blended and the new wine then transferred to stainless steel containers. Medium-bodied and well-balanced...assertive and well defined with nuances of elderflower combined with hints of peach and apricot." |
Teruzzi & Puthod
Vernaccia Rondolino
100% varietal, the true benchmark of its appellation. Brilliant straw yellow in color, the nose is delicately floral and fruity; medium-bodied, fresh and minerally, with notes of honey and pears on the palate; elegant, with a crisp, consistent finish.
