NEW HEAD OF ADVANCEMENT APPOINTED
A Message from Headmaster Charlie Britton
I am delighted to announce that Brad Shelley will begin July 1 as McDonogh's new Head of Institutional Advancement. Since 2008, Brad has served as Director of Institutional Advancement at Holland Hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a coed, independent, pre-K-12 school with a mission and program similar to McDonogh's. He was chosen from among an outstanding group of qualified candidates following a national search.
Brad attended the College of Wooster in Ohio before transferring to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He has also done graduate work at the College of Wooster. Brad and his wife, Candace, have three children, Blythe, 5, Braden, 2 1/2, and Claire, 2 1/2 months.
Brad began his independent school career as a teacher-coach at Ft. Worth Country Day School in Texas, followed by development work at the Casady School in Oklahoma City. Brad follows Eileen Flynn Toohey '77, who has given up her role as head of advancement and development after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm last January. Eileen is doing well now and will be stewarding principal gifts for the school. In her 23 years at McDonogh, she has expanded the school's development program and led efforts that raised more than $100 million during her tenure.
Interim Head of Advancement Geoffrey Butler will coordinate the transition with Brad this spring. We look forward to welcoming the Shelley family to McDonogh.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE
We are getting closer and closer to visible building construction. Weather permitting, we will break ground this month on the Naylor Building for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Shortly thereafter, construction will begin on the St. John Student Center. Both buildings are expected to take 16-18 months to complete, then work will begin on the Rosenberg Campus Green. Most exciting is how these spaces will impact students and benefit McDonogh's fine faculty, and we are incredibly grateful to the many donors who have come forward to support the McDonogh Forever Campaign. We still have a way to go to reach our $75 million goal, though, and we hope that everyone in the community will want to be involved in building McDonogh's legacy forever. For details about the McDonogh Forever Campaign, visit the campaign website or contact Christine Krause, director of major gifts, at 410-581-4735 or ckrause@mcdonogh.org. |

DUNLOGGIN SCHOLARSHIP HELPS MEDICAL STUDENTS
Under the terms of a bequest left to McDonogh by Paul B. Misner, the Dunloggin Medical Scholarship Fund provides grants to former McDonogh students currently enrolled in medical school.
To be eligible, a student must have completed the first year of medical school. Scholarships are granted for one year and may be renewed twice, providing for three successive years of scholarship support. In addition, when a recipient successfully completes the fourth year of medical school, some reimbursement for the first year's expenses may be granted. When awarding funds, a preference is shown for those students who attended McDonogh on a scholarship. The application deadline is Friday, August 17, 2012.
