GOLF CLASSIC IS A SUCCESS

Despite having the rainiest September in history, the weather cooperated and the sun even shone as 114 alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends teed up at the 36th Annual McDonogh Golf Classic on September 26 at the Suburban Club. After playing a modified scramble, golfers turned in their score cards and enjoyed happy hour, dinner, silent and live auctions, and the awards ceremony. Congratulations to the winning foursome: Jack Mitchell '89, Gregg Bell '86, Mark Koski '86, and Todd Pauliny. Chip Sheridan '83 was the lucky winner of the raffle that included two passes to the 2012 Masters. Many thanks to all sponsors and players for supporting the Alumni Association and its endeavors within the McDonogh community. |

CAMPAIGN UPDATE
From the moment the campaign became public in November 2010, the same question kept coming up: when will the facilities be built?
Footings for the St. John Student Center and the Naylor Building for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math could go in by the end of December. Site work is well underway. The planned occupancy date for both buildings is September 2013.
A $4 million shortfall exists between the amount needed to begin construction and the amount we have raised, however. We're counting on the school community to help us make up the difference.
Remember, your gift is about people as much as it is about place. Generations of students will benefit. For details about The McDonogh Forever Campaign, visit the campaign website or contact Christine Krause, director of major gifts, at 410-581-4735 or ckrause@mcdonogh.org.

MARV HUNDERTMARK '54 HONORED
When Marv Hundertmark '54 and his wife, Carol, arrived in Baltimore from Arizona for the Orange & Black Alumni Luncheon on September 14, they were expecting to spend a leisurely meal with classmates and other alumni. Little did Marv know that he was being honored for his notable efforts within his class.
In 2001, Marv published the first class newsletter, The Years After '54, which was similar in size and format to The Week, the student-publication of which Marv was managing editor his senior year. Since then, 19 issues have been published and distributed, meeting their mission of keeping his classmates informed and connected. Marv exemplifies support and dedication and has been and will always be an advocate of McDonogh. Congratulations and thank you, Marv. |
