REUNION WEEKEND CELEBRATION

RWHundreds of alumni reunited at McDonogh on April 30 and May 1.  Some of the 22 on-campus events included a "Then & Now" session with alumni and the Class of 2019, campus tours, alumni sporting events, a cocktail party, a Campus Master Plan sneak peek, and a family crab feast and picnic. Classes ending in 0 and 5 also celebrated milestone reunions at various off-campus locations.

CAMPUS MASTER PLAN REVEALED

CMP
A truly great school is an ideal blend of people, purpose, program, and place. Its classrooms, labs, studios, and gathering places invite meaningful connections among students and teachers and remove all limits to students' achievement. In the process, it becomes a second home.

Read more about McDonogh's Campus Master Plan and view renderings that were shared during Reunion Weekend in May.
PLEASE VOTE FOR OUR FIRST GRADERS
Students Want to Win to Help Baltimore's Homeless

Mary Catherine Irving's civic-minded first graders are finalists in the Howard Johnson's "Give Happy Challenge," and the voting public will decide who wins. Please cast your vote for their video "It Starts With Me" at www.thegivehappychallenge.com. Tell your friends to vote, too! The national contest ends Thursday, June 10.

If the children win the $15,000 grand prize, they will donate it to the St. Ignatius Church Loaves and Fishes program, which will allow the volunteers to continue to provide Baltimore's homeless with food every weekend.

SAVE THE DATE

Golf classic logo 2010Plan to take the day off on Tuesday, October, 12 and join us at Chestnut Ridge Country Club for the 35th Annual McDonogh Golf Classic and Auction. If you have an item to donate for the live or silent auction, please contact Jen Corrigan, associate head of advancement, at 410-581-4772 or jcorrigan@mcdonogh.org.

Look for your golf brochure in the mail in August.

Please Consider a Golf Classic Sponsorship
Each year, we encourage individuals and businesses to participate in the McDonogh Golf Classic by becoming a Golf Classic Sponsor. Sponsorship of the golf outing is tax-deductible and is your opportunity to support the Alumni Association and its various endeavors within the McDonogh community. This past year, in addition to funding various alumni events, the Alumni Association was able to provide financial assistance to an Upper School student in need.

All sponsors who reply by Tuesday, July 6 will be recognized in the golf brochure that will be mailed to approximately 6,000 members of the McDonogh community, but we welcome all sponsorships until Friday, October 1.

Register for your sponsorship online at www.mcdonogh.org/events.
ALUM VETERANS HONORED

Dozens of students in kindergarten through grade 11 made the school's Memorial Day ceremony on May 27 more personal. Together they wrote letters and made cards for 80 living alumni/ae who have served or are serving in the military. The students thanked these men and women--from the classes of 1933 to 1999--for their sacrifice. Recipients have begun to express their gratitude for the students' thoughtful gestures. 2010-2011 ALUMNI EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Rob BavarWe would like to welcome Rob Bavar '90 as the Alumni Association president for the 2010-2011 year.  Rob has served on the Alumni Executive Council since 2004 and is also a McDonogh parent to Ben, who just completed kindergarten. Rob's enthusiasm and dedication to the Alumni Association will be great assets, and we look forward to his leadership!

Many thanks go to Jen MacHamer '92, granddaughter of Harry "Mose" MacHamer, for her service this past year as Alumni Association president.  We are grateful for the many hours she dedicated and will miss her gentle smile and warm demeanor. On behalf of McDonogh and the Alumni Association, thanks, Jen!
HALL OF FAME PATIO
Calling Cavalry and Riding Alumni

Upon completion of the Eagle's Nest, McDonogh's new state-of-the art indoor riding facility, the idea was conceived to build an outdoor brick patio, adjacent to the ring, where students, spectators, and competitors can congregate. This "Hall of Fame Patio" will be designed to showcase McDonogh's riders and horses from the early days of the cavalry, as well as riding alumni and McDonogh's current riding students. A dedication ceremony for the patio will be held during Reunion Weekend 2011.

We are counting on alumni, parents, family, and friends to help create the patio by sponsoring and naming the bricks. Read more about the project and download an order form. The deadline for submitting orders is February 1, 2011.
