Summer Shows - Audition Information

Audition Information for Camelot and Into the Woods

These two shows will be primarily cast with actors age 14 or going into 9th grade through age 21, however there are a limited number of roles for actors going into 8th grade.

To audition, please prepare 32 bars of a song from a musical theatre show. It can be upbeat or a ballad - whatever you feel shows your vocal skill the best.  In addition you may perform a one-minute memorized monologue (from a play or movie script) or do a cold reading from the Camelot or Into the Woods script.

Drop in auditions available
First come, first served.
Saturday, May 9, Louisville Arts Center, 1pm to 5pm.
Callbacks will be May 10th.
Please continue to check the CenterStage Theatre Company website for the most up to date audition and show information.

Rehearsals will commence May 30th  and will be primarily weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons/evenings. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions.

Performance dates are July 15th to 26th at the Dairy Theatre in Boulder. To find out more information about either of these two shows, click here for Into the Woods and here for Camelot.

Instructions and Tips for a Great Audition!

 1.  Arrive early and prepared.

 2.  Fill out your audition form completely!  Please write legible
email addresses.  You will be contacted for callbacks from the email address you provide.  Please list all conflicts on the back of the form.  We need to know of any conflicts in advance.

 3.  Relax and be yourself!   We want you to succeed and be the actor we want to cast!

 4.  Have your music prepared for the accompanist.  You should have music copied and taped together or in a binder that will lay flat on the piano stand.  Be sure to mark where you want the accompanist to start and stop.  Short is good!  A great 16 or 32 bar cut will leave us wanting more.

 5.  Help us be efficient with your audition time.  This is the order for your audition:  Sing, Monologue or Cold reading from the script, Dance (if doing a dance audition)

 6.  Music suggestions.  Choose music you love and can sing well without much accompanist help.  We have great accompanists playing for auditions, but even they have their limits if your score is really tricky and unfamiliar.  You should never glare at the accompanist, he is only trying to help you!

 7.  Monologue suggestions.  Only memorized monologues from a play are acceptable.  Try to keep it at a minute or less. A  monologue that is suitable for a wide audience is probably a better choice for this audition than one with lots of bad language.

 8.  Reading suggestions.  Choose two that interest you.  Do not memorize. Don't try to overly "act" these readings.  Interesting body language and a clear strong voice are your best tools.

 9.  Go with the flow.  Lyric flub-ups, goofs and stutters happen to everyone and can be easily ignored.  Be cheerful and positive and remember the show must go on.  One of my favorite auditions was with an actor who got a bloody nose in the middle of her audition: she stuck a tissue up her nose and just kept going!
Once On This Island - Another Fine Show!
