Les Miserables - A Few Thoughts
Excuse this editiorial commentary in our newsletter, but I wanted to share a few observations on our recent show.

As I look back on our production of Les Miserables, a couple of things struck me. One was when I sat in the back row and saw audiences, show after show, absolutely mesmerized by the performances.

Two is the emotion of the actors during those last shows. I have never seen so many of them choked up as they realized this magical world they had created was coming to an end. At the cast party they lingered far after the official end of it just so they could continue to bask in the old and new friendships gained during the months of rehearsals and performances.

So with that said, a round of applause to the extraordinary perfomances of all our cast members as well as to the parent volunteers who, all told, put in literally thousands of hours to make this production such a success. Thank you as well to all who attended, nearly every show was sold out. We even had a group come from Conifer just to see the show.

As I left the Les Mis cast party, two middle school girls were concerned that they might not be able to enjoy the camraderie of another production. "We can't wait till next Spring!", they said. Well, take a look below and see the many upcoming opportunities that are available (and more to be announced soon).

What is Urinetown?

One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective and wickedly modern wit.
