Greetings!
As you gather this holiday season to spend time with friends and family and your own beloved furry family members, take just a moment to think of those dogs and cats who sit alone and unwanted, with just the barest of necessities.
Gather up some old blankets and towels, maybe grab an extra bag of treats or food or a few toys when you're out shopping and take that few extra minutes to drop them at your local shelter or breed rescue group. You can do this anytime of the year, but at this special time of love and caring and sharing, please, take just those few extra minutes and make this holiday a little more special for a few lonely animals.
A thought for the New Year...
If you can't adopt - foster
If you can't foster - sponsor
If you can't sponsor - volunteer
If you can't volunteer - donate
If you can't donate - education, network and crosspost
Everyone can do something, large or small, to help save a life.

Harleigh and Cleo's 2nd Annual Dog Show
to benefit the VPP
 | |
7th graders Cleo Pappas and Harleigh Reggio present a check to Visiting Pet Program members Connie Back, Lee Gaffney, Terri Joia and Stacey Warnke.

Twelve year old young ladies Cleo Pappas and Harleigh Reggio hosted "Harleigh and Cleo's 2nd Annual Dog Show" in October. Between the fun agility competition, the costume contest, the raffle, the gourmet food and donations from amazing friends and family, the girls raised and donated $968.50 to the VPP. Check out their facebook page at Harleigh & Cleo's 2nd Annual Friendly Dog Competition and be sure to review the fabulous photos by Stacey Warnke on her site at

|
The Delgado Animal Expo proved to be a success this year as there were a hefty number of visitors to the VPP booth. As a result of our attendance at the Expo, we had a great turn out of potential new members at the October orientation. Thank you to all of the volunteers who assisted at the event. And a special thanks to Stacey Warnke and Terri Joia for coordinating the volunteers and organizing the booth. |

About the Visiting Pet Program
The Visiting Pet Program is an all volunteer 501 (C)(3) non-profit animal assisted therapy organization serving Orleans, Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes.
For the past 24 years, the volunteers of the VPP have lived up to their motto of "Bringing Love and Leaving Smiles" to the residents of nursing homes and hospitals.
Our literacy project, Reading to Rover, offers young readers the opportunity to practice their reading aloud skills to the gentle therapy dogs.
If you would like to make a donation to the Visiting Pet Program, please click on the button below or mail your check to 5831 S. Johnson Street, New Orleans, LA 70125. Please note if your donation is in memory of a person or a pet. We will be happy to send an acknowledgment of your donation to the family. Please include the name and address to send the acknowledgment. Because we are a 501(C)(3) organization, your donation is tax deductible. We are an all volunteer organization. Your donation goes directly to the support of our mission. Thank you
