Dear Friends, It's been a great summer for CMEE. We had our most popular July ever, the CMEE Under the Sea Family Fair attracted over 700 people, and we're gearing up for CMEE's 5th Birthday in October. To help CMEE celebrate turning five, I hope you'll consider buying a tile that will be displayed as part of CMEE's new Tile Wall installation. For $50, your child can create a work of art that will be scanned and printed onto a tile, and then displayed permanently at CMEE. To sign up or for more information, please contact Amy@cmee.org. As CMEE prepares for its next five years, the staff, volunteers, trustees, and members of the community are developing a strategic plan for the Museum, envisioning what CMEE will look like in 2020. One of the questions that CMEE is grappling with is how to keep older children engaged in the Museum. So far, we've identified two productive strategies: outreach programs where CMEE goes to schools and "drop off" programs for older siblings. For example, this fall CMEE is starting a Lego Club specifically for ages 7 to 10. While younger children are playing in the Museum with a parent or caregiver, their older siblings can create a Lego work of art that will be displayed at CMEE until the next Club meeting. To help get the Club started, we're looking for donations of standard Legos, especially base plates. If you're interested in donating Legos or learning more about the Lego Club, please call CMEE at 631-537-8250 or email Daphne@cmee.org. As you can see in this newsletter, August will be even busier at CMEE than July! This month, we welcome "Super Soccer Stars" to the Museum for the first time, plus a new session of classes, a Mermaid Tea Party, AND an entertaining line-up of shows in our Amphitheater. We hope to see you often at CMEE this month and, as always, we are thankful for your ongoing support!
Sincerely,
 Stephen Long Executive Director |
CMEE Under the Sea was a over the top! | |
CMEE was delighted to welcome over 700 people seeking fun "Under the Sea" at CMEE's 2nd Annual Family Fair on July 24.

Thank you to all of our guests and supporters for helping us exceed last year's fundraising goal by 20%! CMEE was bursting with activity both inside and outside the Museum. Families enjoyed bouncy castles, pony rides, performances, art activities, carnival games, and more.
Many thanks to Belly's Sno-Balls for supplying deliciously 'cool' treats and to Macaronikid.com, the Hamptons Tumblebus, Kids in Sports, Green Logic, and others for helping to provide programming at the Fair. We're especially grateful to the Event Committee and our Co-Chairs: Natalie Barth, Dana Golding Scharf, Lauren Goody, Pamela Henes, Beth Kojima, Erica Martini, Amy Tarr, and Zibby Right. Their leadership ensured our success!

We look forward to seeing you at next year's fair!

| New Mural for the CMEE Lobby | |
Thanks to Lilly Pulitzer, CMEE added a whimsical map of the East End to the Lobby of the Museum. On July 9, two of the artists from the Lilly Pulitzer Design Studio reimagined the region's landscapes and landmarks, many of which are showcased in CMEE's permanent exhibition.
Come explore the map to find the farm stand, fire truck, and Henry the Rabbit when you next visit CMEE! |
