Dear CMEE Friends, Welcome back from the holiday season and to the New Year! We were thrilled with the attendance in the midst of a snow storm at our first annual "Ball Drop" on New Year's Eve Day...As you'll see from the article and photographs below, it was a confetti-filled celebration for all ages!
Here at CMEE, we're excited to usher in 2009 with a busy calendar of events, including a new action-filled Winter Exhibit. We are especially pleased to announce the start of a new Mentor Program this month, well-timed with the recent announcement from President-elect Obama, along with General Colin Powell and President Bush designating January as National Mentorship Month. This community-building initiative is very close to CMEE's heart, and we look forward to telling you more about this special program in the months ahead. We hope to see you at CMEE often in the coming months... Warm "January" wishes to you! Sincerely,
Stephen Long Executive Director |

New Mentor Program Takes Flight |
This month, CMEE launched a year-long Mentor Program: ME, MYSELF & I - My Community in the Blink of an Eye. This community-based initiative happens to coincide with the recent designation of "January" as National Mentoring Month, by President-elect Obama, President Bush, and Colin Powell.
The Mentor Program at CMEE seeks to provide a support system for children ages 9-11 from all backgrounds and ethnicities, while also offering stimulating and enriching outside experiences. The program will run once a week for 12 months, providing a continuous relationship between students and their mentors. Each month will focus on a different aspect of our community and include plenty of field trips to local community institutions. |
