First Public Workshop for the Downtown Strategic Plan

Community invited to July 19 public workshop to determine what downtown SA will look like in 2020

In the SA2020 visioning process, downtown development was singled out as a key component to achieving a better San Antonio.

Mayor Castro has challenged the Centro Partnership, a newly formed public-private entity organized to lead downtown planning and development efforts, to make the downtown vision from SA2020 a reality. The Partnership will start with the development of a strategic plan for the first time in over a decade. The entire downtown community is invited to participate in the first public workshop, which will be held on July 19 at the Villta Assembly Building from 6-8pm.

Come help make a good downtown into a great one and register to attend!

Hyatt Turns up the Heat for Fire Fighter Q Off

q

San Antonio fire fighters all across the city are trading in their helmets for chef's hats, hoping for a chance to compete in the Hyatt Regency San Antonio's "Fire Fighter Q Off." Open to the public, this entertaining and educational event will take place Wednesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. in Hyatt Regency's international barbeque restaurant, "Q." It's the hotel's way of helping fire fighters draw attention to fire prevention and safety during a season when most people are heading outdoors to fire up the grill.

"We are in the middle of a drought and there is a burn ban in effect," says Hyatt's Director of Sales and Marketing, Scott Lane. "It is important for people to understand what that means in terms of outdoor entertaining and we thought this would be a fun way to disseminate that information."
