The Downtown Golf Tournament: May 23 A day on the greens to benefit Haven for Hope  On May 23, 2011, please join us for a great afternoon out of the office with fellow downtowners at the beautiful and recently renovated Brackenridge Golf Course. A portion of the tournament proceeds will be used to help fund Haven for Hope and the various educational activities undertaken by Downtown Alliance. Registration opens at 11:30am Shotgun start at 1:00pm Boxed lunch at noon, dinner graciously provided by the RK Group after play provided.  HemisFair Meeting April 26 Wrap-up of master planning process The next public meeting to discuss the HemisFair Park Area Master Plan is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26th. Please mark your calendars and make plans to join us as we wrap-up the master planning process. The purpose of this public meeting is to present the Framework Plan which was derived from the first and second public workshops in which participants worked to identify and determine the appropriate balance of various uses including where streets and VIA streetcar routes should be located and what other types of uses should be considered for the site. Join us to hear how the planning team incorporated your ideas and provide you feedback on the Framework Plan. Learn more and RSVP>

 Downtown Living Updates 1221 Broadway to begin leasing in May
The Cross & Co. mixed-use project at 1221 Broadway will begin leasing May 1 for residential units and says move-ins will be as soon as June 1. Amenities are to include a gym, parking, dog park, courtyard, and more. According to the Express-News Downtown Blog, "The average size of the units at the Vistana is about 900 square feet, bringing the average rent at $1,200 a month. The average size of the units at 1221 Broadway is about 650 square feet, bringing the average rent to between $900-$950 a month. There are 52 unit types at 1221. Units will range in size from 400-square-foot studios ($610 a month) to large 1,200-square-foot two bedroom, two baths ($1,700-$1,800 a month)." Learn more>

National Historic Preservation Month
The Office of Historic Preservation is pleased to announce its participation in National Preservation Month in May 2011. Across the United States communities will celebrate historic preservation through outreach programs. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has chosen the theme, "Celebrating America's Treasures" for 2011. A new event this year will be an Amazing Preservation Race for Adults: teams participate in a downtown architectural scavenger hunt, physical activities, and an after-party (proceeds from the adult race will help keep the kids race free of charge).
