San Antonio's Cultural Corridors: The Next Step
Registration now open for the 9/14/10 Urban Renaissance Luncheon featuring consultant Louise Stevens and introduction by Mayor Castro

Join Downtown Alliance and San Antonio's Office of Cultural Affairs for an Urban Renaissance Luncheon on Tuesday September 14 at the Westin Riverwalk as we explore the next steps for anchoring San Antonio's arts and cultural institutions into cultural corridors. With an introduction by Mayor Julián Castro, and featuring national cultural research and planning specialist Louise Stevens of ArtsMarket, this discussion will feature examples of Cultural Corridors from other cities, and how SA can apply these best practices.

The economic impact of San Antonio's creative industry grew by more than 33% between 2000 and 2006, generating 3.38 billion dollars a year, supporting over 26,000 jobs and more than 1$ billion dollars in wages. While numbers are still being finalized for the second half of the decade, there is no doubt that this industry is critical to San Antonio's health and future growth.

As Dr. Steve Nivin stated, "Beyond its direct impact, the creative industry impacts quality of life, downstream businesses, and innovation - vital elements to economic development. It is the fuel that will propel our economy into the creative age."
