Introducing the new, free Downtown App Experience 'downtown in the palm of your hand' with our new mobile directory for smartphones
Now the 7th largest city can fit into the palm of your hand with Downtown Alliance San Antonio's new, free mobile app for smartphones. Based on our website, www.downtownsanantonio.org, the app features a downtown business directory with maps, GPS enabled directions, events, mobile coupons and more.
Downtown Alliance, an organization dedicated to making downtown a better place to live, work, shop, eat and be entertained, partnered with local leading mobile technology firm BiBiSi to offer the application for free.
To get the app, simply text DOWNTOWN to 45384. It is not available in the itunes store, because it is web-based in order to allow almost all smartphones to access it. As BiBiSi's Chief Technology Officer, Roell Vento, explains: "By leveraging the common denominator of mobile web for
smartphones, our proprietary cross platform app not only delivers the
application to iphones but also the other two top phones as well."
Downtown Alliance looks forward to working with its members and partner organizations, including the CVB, COSA Downtown Operations Department, Paseo del Rio, Downtown Residents Association, and the San Antonio Area Tourism Council and many others to make the downtown experience even better through this new resource.

Gordon Hartman speaks to Amigos about Morgan's Wonderland

On Monday July 12, San Antonio real estate guru and founder of a foundation that helps non-profits, Gordon Hartman, spoke to the Centro San Antonio Amigos about his latest venture: Morgan's Wonderland, the only ultra-accessible family fun park in the country. Designed specifically for
children and adults with special needs, their family members,
caregivers, friends and the entire community, this 25-acre park is a
unique oasis, that through the spirit of inclusion, allows people of all
abilities to play, learn and share life changing experiences together,
in a fun and safe environment.
The Amigos learned about the park in order to share information to downtown visitors about this new unique offering for San Antonio.

RiverWalk Watershed Alliance Launches "River. Life. Love it." Campaign To Clean River

The San Antonio RiverWalk
Watershed Alliance (RWWA), made up of key stakeholders downtown including
Downtown Alliance, officially launched a new campaign yesterday to keep the
river clean. The campaign is a culmination of several years of planning and was
initiated due to a very poor reading in 2006 that exceed the federal government's
standards for bacterial contamination. The Alliance has already taken steps to
correct the problem including changing the collection of water from pressure
washing the streets, working with the San Antonio Zoo to address animal waste
disposal, and educating restaurants on proper sewage disposal. The public part
of the campaign will reach hotels, residents, visitors and workers.
For more information, read the Express-News article, or visit the RWWA website.
