Amigos Honored for National Tourism Week The Palm San Antonio recognizes Centro Amigos for service downtown

In
celebration of National Tourism Week last week, The Palm San Antonio hosted the Centro
San Antonio Amigos for lunch in appreciation of their dedication to making
downtown a friendly destination for guests from near and far.
As Amigos dined on delicious steak sandwiches, they were looked after by not only The Palm's
attentive staff but the smiling "faces" of San Antonio's leading businessmen,
politicians and celebrities whose caricatures line the restaurant's famed
walls. Often called "the face of San
Antonio," themselves, the workforce of more than 65
Amigos provide a host of services that improve downtown through the Ambassador,
Streetscaping, and Maintenance programs.

Blue Star's Red Dot Event: May 27 Grow your art collection or come to mix and mingle with artists at this popular contemporary art sale event that gives back to our community
Downtown Alliance is thrilled to support Blue Star and the upcoming Red Dot event as an in-kind sponsor. Now in its 20th year, Red Dot has become a sought after gathering of artists and collectors from around the state where attendees can view contemporary art and mingle with the artists themselves, all while giving back to the local art community: Fifty percent of the art sales from the evening go back to participating artists in the community making Blue Star/Red Dot the event in San Antonio that gives back the largest amount to artist through artwork sales.
Stay tuned for news on the Blue Star Lab grand opening on June 3rd, a new art space in the heart of downtown!
WIN TICKETS! Forward this email to a friend and CC info@downtownsa.org, and you will be entered to win a ticket to Red Dot on May 27, 2010 at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center. Drawing will be on Friday May 21 at noon. Forward More info>>More info

Mark your calendars for the 2010 Downtown Alliance Golf Tournament New Parking Meters Downtown moving to electronic meters
Starting this week, parking downtown
is getting easier as the City of San Antonio starts to replace several traditional parking meters across town with new electronic meters. The new stations will accept debit/credit cards, as well as coins, and provide customers with a receipt for every transaction. The Centro San Antonio Amigos will be on hand for the first few weeks to help use the new machines. Additional benefits of the new stations include:- The pay stations will service multiple parking spaces and will reduce clutter on streets
and sidewalks.
- Each pay station is solar powered - an environmentally
friendly choice for our city
- Customers can also use any remaining
parking time at another location.
The Downtown
Operations Department website will feature information on how to use the new
parking pay stations, including an instructional video. Visit www.sanantonio.gov/dtops to view a
map of where new pay stations will be installed, as well as an installation
schedule (updated weekly) so customers know when to expect a new station
nearby.
The
new technology will provide a more convenient parking experience for downtown
residents and visitors. We invite you to discover how with Park, Pay and
Display paying is easy for you!
