Banks and Shane Returns to East Lake
Mark Your Calendars for July 20th

BATL, the annual commemoration of the Civil War Battle of Atlanta that took place in East Lake, Kirkwood, and East Atlanta, is coming again this summer to East Lake Golf Club. The committee is especially pleased to announce the return of Banks and Shane (formerly The Kingston Trio), the popular group who entertained us three years ago.

Some reasons you won't want to miss this annual event:
  • Your rare chance to enjoy the beautiful club dining room and verandas
  • Lots of really fine Southern cooking for only $50 per person or $45 per person when you purchase a table of 10
  • Great music with Banks and Shane
  • Fabulous silent auction offerings
  • A great opportunity to socialize with Abraham Lincoln and 10 of your favorite neighbors

The rest of the BATL events are returning all that week with the big day on Saturday, July 21 after the Gala. Tickets will be online soon at www.batlevent.org.

East Atlanta Village Farmers Market is Back!

Checklist Image
The EAVFM is a haven for all things sustainable and local, featuring the most urban farmers of any of the other markets in town.  This season, the market is jam-packed with local food, entertainment and more vendors than ever before.

Live chef demos will focus on seasonal, affordable and easy-to-duplicate recipes each week, using ingredients available at the market.  For less than the price of a trip to the fast food drive-thru, learn how to feed your family a healthy, local meal.

If you are a gardener, or an aspiring gardener, join the Summer Garden Workshop in the Edible Learning Garden.  Each week will feature a new lesson to be learned on the art of backyard gardening.

Through a partnership with WonderRoot, an Atlanta-based non-profit with a mission to unite artists with their community, the EAVFM will feature live music each week as part of The Music at the Market Series.  Additionally, a new booth at the EAVFM, WonderRoot Index, will showcase different local artists each week, beginning with Creative Reuse.

EAVFM is open every Thursday from 4pm to 8pm.  Come join in the good food and good fun!

About East Atlanta Village Farmers Market: The East Atlanta Village Farmers Market opened in 2006 and is known for it's hip urban vibe and commitment to increasing access to fresh, local food for low-income residents in the area.  It has been voted the Reader's Pick for the Best Outdoor Farmers Market in Atlanta's Creative Loafing Magazine three years in a row.   Over 30 vendors feature delicious local food including, organic vegetables, Georgia peaches, unique fruits, artisan crafted breads, farmstead cheeses, unique prepared foods, wood-fired pizza, beverages, and much more.  There is an on-site Edible Learning Garden where free classes on cooking, sustainability, art and gardening are taught each week during market.  Come to have a picnic dinner and stay to see the local bands and artists that flock to this in-town market.  The EAVFM is considered the town square of the East Atlanta neighborhood and quickly becoming a robust hub for urban agriculture and health education.
