 Greetings!

EACA Logo
Here's hoping your weekend was as wonderful as the autumn weather.

Good reading!

EAV-O-WEEN
Whether you are Darth Vadar, Strawberry Shortcake or your favorite superhero, come to the East Atlanta Village Saturday, October 29th, for our annual Halloween festivities.  Beginning with a costume contest in Brownwood Park at 5pm followed by trick or treating and more in the Village from 6-9 (or until the candy runs out), get your costume ready for an evening of ghoulish fun!!

We are looking for a handful of volunteers for the evening of the affair to make this family friendly community event a safe and entertaining one for all ages.  If interested in helping out with costume judging, road safety, etc. please email Callie Lathangue.

Neighbor in Need Pumpkin Sale
Every Thursday in October EACA's Neighbor in Need program will be selling pumpkins at the EAVFM from 4-8pm.  Please show your support by purchasing a pumpkin from $5-$25 in various sizes including decorative gourds. All money raised will be used to complete emergency home repairs for senior neighbors in our East Atlanta Community.

Martha Brown Invites You to Dinner
Are you a fan of Urban Cannibals?  Do you enjoy their food?  Would you love having somebody else prepare your dinner?  Well, come join your neighborhood church, Martha Brown UMC, this Wednesday, October 5th, and every first and third Wednesday of the month for their ongoing community dinner.  For those familiar with Martha Brown potluck has                                  been replaced with a wonderful dinner
                                                              prepared by Urban Cannibals.

In conjunction with dinner the church will be offering two new programs for children.

  • The Superheros Land at Martha Brown.  Geared for kids 3-3rd grade, this program will allow children a fun and safe environment to learn all about what Martha Brown has to offer in a exciting Superhero format.
  • Got Questions?  Specifically for 4th graders on up Got Questions? will be a place to ask questions and discover answers together.

Dinner begins at 6:15 followed by the Children's Programs from 6:45-7:30.  If interested in attending either event please email Pastor Heather Jallad to RSVP.  As the dinner will be supplied by the church, RSVPing ahead of time would be much appreciated.

Be a Neighbor!  Effective Neighborhood Watch Programs

Neighborhood watch groups are effective because they decrease opportunities for criminals to commit crime.  The added bonus is the cohesiveness it provides between members of your community.

This workshop will educate you on the most effective ways of identifying and reporting suspicious activity and mobilizing your neighborhood watch program:

  • Why is there a need for a neighborhood watch program?
  • What is needed to start a neighborhood watch program?
  • A perspective on the neighborhood watch program.
  • How to get your program started.
  • Resources to keep you informed.
  • Ways to stay connected - ideas, technology and the internet.

Bulbs for Burgess
Attention gardeners! Fall is here and that means it's time to think about spring flowers. Burgess-Peterson Academy students will be planting bulbs in gardening class, which means we need about 500 bulbs. Now is the perfect time to buy or order for fall planting, so please consider getting a few extra to donate to the students. You can deliver them to the school office or contact Michelle Rice and we'll arrange to pick them up.

Thank you!
