EACA ~
EACA volunteers hung lights and candy canes on trees in the Village, decorated street lights with garlands, and hung ornaments at the Welcome sign at the Village entrance. EACA would like to extend special thanks to both our volunteers, and to Traders for not only providing hot cider to all volunteers but also gift certificates for all.

The Annual East Atlanta Holiday Tree made its appearance at Flat Shoals and Glenwood this Saturday.  Several local businesses were instrumental in getting the tree up and decorated this year.  Many thanks go to Traders for all of their help with setup, decorations and bribing community members to come down and help with gift cards, Village Hardware for supplying the tree, Neighborhood Commercial Redevelopment for supplying power and Marc Takacs at Keller Williams Realty for helping to set it all up.

 Burgess-Peterson Academy's Scholastic Book Fair
December 3, 2009

To the East Atlanta Village Community:

Mark your calendars!  Burgess-Peterson Academy's Scholastic Book Fair will take place from December 7th - 11th and we're looking forward to seeing you there. Our students will be visiting our Book Fair with his or her class and they will have an opportunity to purchase books at that time.  We hope that our community will make time to visit as well.  This is a great opportunity to purchase holiday gifts!

We have a wonderful variety of material ranging from easy readers for our beginning readers to chapter books with highly popular characters for our older readers.  We have flyers in the front office, which highlight some of our wonderful assortment - this is only a small sampling of all the great books available at our Fair.

We encourage you to help build our classroom libraries by purchasing books and donating them to our teachers - there is a teacher wish list posted in the media center.  Also, we are always grateful for any monetary donations.  Any purchases or donations would help to supplement our media center collection as well as the classrooms.  One can never have enough books.

Thank you for partnering with us in encouraging our children to read.
 EACA Seeking New Leadership
EACA is actively seeking new leadership for next year.  This is a great chance to improve your neighborhood in areas such as Public Safety, Code Enforcement, Land Use and Zoning, Education and Transportation to name just a few.  Elections will be held at the December 8th EACA meeting for all four officer positions, including Vice President and Treasurer.

To learn more, contact one of the nominating committee members, either Henry Bryant at 404-377-6148 (or hbryant@mindspring.com) or Myron Polster at 404-429-8815 (or myron.polster@comcast.net).

MARTA Invites Customers to Celebrate the Transit System's 30th Anniversary

MARTA invites customers to celebrate the transit systems 30th anniversary of combined bus, rail and paratransit (MARTA Mobility) service during its annual Customer Appreciation event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the Five Points Station.

MARTA will commemorate this important milestone by providing music and prizes to thank customers for their unwavering support and partnership over the years.
On June 30, 1979, MARTA began its rail operations on the East Line from Avondale to Georgia State station. Thirty years later, MARTA has grown into an over $6 billion public asset serving DeKalb and Fulton Counties. MARTA is the only multi-modal transit system in the state with a network that includes 130 bus routes and 38 rail stations on nearly 48 miles of track.
With 30 years of history and experience, MARTA serves as the backbone for transit in this region. Thanks to the efforts of our past leaders and community to envision and support the creation of MARTA, the transit system has helped Atlanta and the surrounding region to provide quality mobility options for residents and visitors, build a more thriving economy, and become more environmentally sustainable.
Throughout December, MARTA will celebrate this significant milestone and continue to promote just how critical transit is to the success and quality of life in our region and state. MARTA stands poised with its partners to move forward with a new regional transit vision that will better serve our communities and carry us successfully into the next 30 years.
