EACA - Braves Outing
|
EACA is sponsoring a trip to see a Braves game at Turner Field! We'll see the Braves take on the San Diego Padres on Thursday, August 27th at 7:10 pm. This is Chipper Jones Signature Cap Giveaway night for the first 10,000 fans in attendance. As a group, we will get outfield seats - normally $22 - for $12 per ticket. If you need a parking pass, that will be an additional $10. If you want to attend this EACA outing, please respond and let me ( vicepresident@eaca.net) know how many tickets you will want AND please pay for the number of tickets you want either via Paypal (see below), online Bill Pay with your bank, or by check (made out to the East Atlanta Community Association). The deadline is Monday, August 3rd by 5:00 pm. Tickets will be distributed at the next EACA meeting (08/11/09) or mailed directly to you, if you can't make it to the meeting. You don't need to be an EACA member to participate, but you do need to live in the neighborhood. If you don't contact us as well as pay for your tickets by Friday at 5:00 pm, you won't be able to purchase tickets seated with us or at this discounted price later on. It'll be a great time to hangout with your neighbors and cheer on the Braves! See you at the game! East Atlanta Community Association PO Box 18366 Atlanta GA 30316

SOPO Bicycle Cooperative Needs Volunteers! |
Sopo needs shop volunteers! The next volunteer orientation is TONIGHT! You don't need to know lots about fixing bikes to help out.
You can...
- greet people and explain what's going on,
- show people where to find things,
- learn about repairs with the person you're helping,
- make sure people are using the right tool for the right job (no hammering with wrenches, for example),
- accept, record, and sort donations,
- help with general upkeep, and
- keep track of wandering tools, bikes, and other things mistakenly carried away.
How do I become a volunteer?
- Fill out THIS application (it's real quick).
- Attend Volunteer Orientation (4th Monday of the month at 7 pm at the shop plus one day that week so you can shadow a more seasoned volunteer).
- Be down for the cause: volunteers help people learn by allowing them to do their own work and by enforcing our rules that make the shop a positive place to be.
And then... Volunteer at a minimum of two shop sessions per month.
What are the benefits of being a shop volunteer?
- You can come to Volunteer Night (2nd Monday of the month at 7 pm). It's a chance to work on your own bike with fewer people around and a great opportunity to meet the rest of the volunteers.
- You're making a GIGANTIC impact on the health and well being of Atlanta and the people in it.
- You're making sure Sopo stays open and operating smoothly.
- At the end of the month, your name gets entered into a raffle. The more you volunteer, the better your chances of winning.
