The Society for Safe and Caring Schools & Communities invites you to support bullying prevention in Alberta by attending our fifth annual Creating Safe Spaces waffle breakfast.
This special event celebrates National Bullying Awareness Week from November 13 - 19, 2011 and takes place on November 16, 2011 from 7:30 - 9:00 am at The Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton.
The breakfast will give you a chance to learn about the work we've been doing this past year and our plans for the future. You'll hear from youth who have been positively impacted by our programming and you'll support a great cause along with many of Alberta's government, corporate and educational leaders.
This year our event will feature an inspirational presentation by our special guest Cory B. Johnson!
When: Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30am
Where: Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton
10235 - 101 Street
Who: Cory B Johnson and community leaders
Why: To Celebrate National Bullying Awareness Week and "Stand Up to Bullying" in our Schools and Communities
Here's some suggestions for how to take a stand against bullying:
invite someone who is usually "left out" to sit with you at lunch
talk to others in your school or community about hosting a bullying prevention event
start or join an anti-bullying Facebook group with your friends
send a tweet or make a YouTube video about bullying prevention

CORY B. JOHNSON
Cory B. Johnson is one of the most uniquely inspiring speakers you may ever see. Born with Cerebral Palsy and suffering a debilitating stroke at age 11, Cory has learned to engage humour and patience to conquer almost any obstacle.
Able to build a successful career as a leadership counselor, investment banker, inventor of innovative products for the disabled, and now as a professional speaker and standup comic, Cory inspires audiences to find their own paths to success.
Cory's presentation is the embodiment of honesty with a healthy dose of fun. Regardless of age, abilities or social stature, Cory helps us all see how we can look at our limitations, and turn "disabilities into possibilities." He encourages his audiences to see new possibilities within themselves and others. With his own perception on life, he'll challenge you to remove some of your own barriers.

The Society for Safe and Caring Schools & Communities is dedicated to creating safe spaces for children and youth. We do this by providing researched based programs, resources and workshops to parents, teachers, coaches and other important adults in a child's life on how to prevent violence in schools and communities.
