Media Q & As
Media Q & AsWhen I get asked a question to which I don't know the answer in one of my workshops or find that the same question comes up a lot, I'm going to post the answer to my blog and feature the most popular question each month. I hope you find it helpful.

This month's Media Q & A  is about how to convince skeptics that social media offers one of the best communication strategies ...

Answer: People are generally skeptical of anything because they need to see more evidence before they change their beliefs, assumptions or habits. Change is challenging for everyone and more challenging for some, especially those footing the bill for your time and energy. The best way to convince skpetics about the value of social media or any other concept is to follow the seven step scientific method and show them the results.

The seven steps are:
  1. identify the question - what problem do you think social media can solve?
  2. make a hypothesis - what is the question you think social media tools and technologies can answer?
  3. create an experiment - what social media tools and technologies are likely best for you experiment with?
  4. preform an experiment
  5. analyze the data
  6. review the experiment
  7. make a conclusion
You might also want to review the 12 Step Social Media Program for Traditional Marketers if you're still trying to get started the right way in social media. And, if you're interested in what's predicted to happen in the social media space in 2012 see this Slideshare presentation.
