Magnetic Media Plans Workshop
Operating without a media plan is akin to taking a road trip without a map. While you may eventually get there, it is also just as likely you will get lost. A media plan outlines a focused strategy on how the editorial support of the media will help your organization achieve its key initiatives. It clarifies the challenges you face as well as the opportunities. The research involved in creating a media plan improves your effectiveness and efficiencies, clarifies your target market, and helps insure you won't end up wasting your valuable time and organizational resources.

webinar series webinars
For those of you who registered for the first ever webinar we offered on Wednesday, "How to Create a Great NonProfit Elevator Pitch", thank you. There were a few little glitches that prevented some of you from participating. Sorry. I will be sending everyone who registered -- all 58 of you! -- the slides and the audio recording from the webinar in the next few days. It is likely that there will be a few more glitches as we roll out our new webinar series. I've discovered that taking a webinar and giving a webinar are two entirely different things. I appreciate your patience. Coming up next in the webinar series: Online Marketing Basics: from eMail to Social Media. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 10:00 to noon. This webinar is also offered for free as part of our open house at the Business Link but you need to attend in person to participate, this webinar only. All other webinars after February 11 will be offered online, in the comfort of your own office and cost $45. Webinars are limited to 15 participants until Fall 2009 -- so we can continue to work out the glitches. There is plenty of space and time for questions and discussions. We'll be sending out the Spring 2009 Webinar Schedule in the next two weeks. We hope you'll join us online now and then.

Optimizing Your Media Releases for the Web or 10 Steps to Being Found on Search Engines

optimize your media releases for the web
Your placement on search engines like Google or Yahoo Search is important. At a minimum, it should be easy for your current constituents to find your site using your organization's name. Showing up on the first page of search results for key terms - for instance, something like "Calgary women's shelter," if that describes your organization - can also make a huge difference in your site traffic, not to mention in potential donors, volunteers, and clients' ability to find and connect with you. Read more...
