"To those who use well what they are given, even more will
be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even
what little they have will be taken away." (Matthew 25:29, NLT)
Tithing is only the beginning of financial
stewardship; we must also be wise about the remaining finances God leaves in our care. But how many of us are really Money Smart? According to Bankrate.com 70 percent of Americans polled consider themselves good at managing their
money, yet only 25 percent scored above a "C" when it comes to
actually doing it.
Join us this week at Thirsty Thursdays Bible Study and bring a friend as Sis. Lakeshia Frasure leads discussion, takes questions, and gives answers about financial literacy, credit protection, banking, foreclosure prevention and other financial issues from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) "Money Smart" Program.

Modern Love - "Those Aren't Fighting Words, Dear" (The New York Times, July 31, 2009) LET'S say you have what you believe to be a healthy
marriage. You're still friends and lovers after spending more than half of your
lives together. The dreams you set out to achieve in your 20s - gazing into
each other's eyes in candlelit city bistros when you were single and skinny -
have for the most part come true . . . . . . "I don't love you anymore. I'm not sure
I ever did." His words came at me like a speeding fist, like a sucker punch,
yet somehow in that moment I was able to duck. And once I recovered and
composed myself, I managed to say, "I don't buy it." Because I didn't. (Click here for full article)
