This week at Thirsty Thursdays - Young Adult Bible Study

"'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them . . . I will search for the lost and bring back the strays." (Ezekiel 34:11,16)
Many of us depend on "global positioning systems" (GPS devices) to tell us where we are and give directions to the next destination. Those devices work in the physical world, but what about the spiritual? What does our "Gospel Positioning System" say about where we are and where we are going?
A few months we tuned-in to celebrate the inauguration of a Barak Obama and our "Gospel Positioning System" seemed to say 'we've arrived.' A few days ago we tuned-in to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson at the BET Awards and the "Gospel Positioning System" seemed to recalculate and say 'we're lost!' Where are we?
Join us this week for food, fellowship and informal discussion about where we are in the Gospel journey (Community, Church, and Ministry) and the route we take to reach our next destination.

Connectional Lay Organization: Although the word "Episcopal" in African Methodist Episcopal refers to an organizational hierarchy that is led by Bishops, the A.M.E. Church established the Lay Organization to insure that non-clergy would be able to participate in the general functioning and supervision of the A.M.E. Church, and maximize the use of their God-given abilities in the Kingdom of God.
Every local church is encouraged to maintain an active Lay Organization. In addition there is Lay Leadership at every major organizational level of the A.M.E. Church. Ebenezer's own Dr. Cellestine Cheeks is a candidate for President of the Connectional Lay Organization at their upcoming Biennial Session which encompasses the entire A.M.E Church world-wide.
To learn more about the Connectional Lay Organization and/or Dr. Cheeks' candidacy visit the Cheeks for President website. If you wish to offer time, talent, prayer, encouragement and/or financial support for the Cheeks candidacy, email the Cheeks for President Committee.
