Join us this week for the Young Adult Season Closing Fellowship starting at 7:00. p.m.  We will start the fellowship with devotions in the Original Sanctuary and then move downstairs for food and family fun. Share your reflections from the 2009 Young Adult Season and offer suggestions for 2010 as we continue to live "Spiritually Bold, Personally Balanced and Eternally Blessed!"

Thirsty Thursdays Bible Study! Devotions start at 6:45 p.m. led by Exalted Praise and Restoration Liturgical Dancers. Then Bible Study with Rev. Jonathan Newton. After Bible Study, enjoy refreshments in the Fellowship Hall or Rejoice Choir Rehearsal. Young Adults (ages 18-39) don't miss this weekly time of fellowship, favor, and flavor in the Original Sanctuary!

Considering marriage, engaged, or already planning your wedding? The Bone of My Bone Pre-Marital Seminar taught by Pastor Jo Ann Browning takes place on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m. The Summer 2009 Bone of My Bone Pre-Marital Institute begins Saturday, May 16th and continues for 8 weeks from 9:00: a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Cost is $75.00. Please register in the Administrative Office.

Volunteers are needed for the Young Adult Ministry's Comfort Team, Intercessory Prayer Warriors, and IT Team. If you are interested please send an email to The Young Adult Ministry. "I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God." The Combined Usher Board is recruiting Young Adults to be doorkeepers in the House of Lord. Our own Sister Kendra Bibbins has opened a Rita's Ice and Custard Franchise in Oxon Hill, MD.  Celebrate the Grand Opening throughout the month of May at 6423 Livingston Road.

Young people (ages 6-18) who have experienced the death of a loved one should attend  the "Young People Care Workshop and Activity Day" on Saturday, May 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Activities include healing circles, journaling, art therapy and more. Join the Single Parents Ministry for their May workshop, "I Almost Blew It But God Called My Name....Sex, Love, Lies and the Single Parent", Friday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m. The workshop will address mature subject matter that is not appropriate for children; however, children's Bible Study takes place at the same time on the 2nd floor. Supplies are needed for the Women's Season Outreach Day on Saturday, May 16th. Requested items include: new or slightly used suitcases (carry-on size and above), scrapbooking material, toiletry items, hair care products, gardening supplies, etc. Donations will be accepted after services in the Narthex and at the Women's Resource Center. The Jewels Ministry will host a Flea Market on Saturday, May 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the satellite parking lot across from the Main Church. Vendor spaces are available for $20. If interested, sign-up in the Narthex after service. For more information contact the Jewels Ministry.

Join the Comfort and Healing Ministries for the 10th Annual Memorial Day Celebration on May 25th at 9:30 a.m. as we honor those who gave their lives for us, and celebrate the lives of departed loved ones. Pick up your copy of Pastor Grainger Browning's debut book, "In God's Own Time: The Rise of Barack Obama." Read and experience a collection of sermons God gave Pastor Browning during the Presidential campaign and election.  Copies are available in the Narthex immediately following services.

The F.O.R.C.E. Outreach Ministry is providing job search preparation sessions from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Outreach House. There will be workshops on resume preparation, interviewing skills, mock interviews, and guidance on preparing for employment.
