The renowned historian, Dr. John Hope Franklin, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 25th at Duke University Hospital. Among other things, Dr. Franklin was a survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma Race Riot. He was ninety-four years old and left a legacy of scholarship and advocacy for civil rights. Please keep the family in prayer.
Dr. Franklin's book, "From Slavery to Freedom" is a classic account of history that remains relevant more than 60 years after being published. His scholarly research is credited with helping Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP legal team win Brown v. Board of Education, the 1954 case that barred the doctrine of "separate but equal" in the nation's public schools." For more information click here.
