"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take
but by the moments that take our breath away"
-Author Unknown

Memories of the past can have a profound effect on our present.  Thinking about the "good ole days" can add "pep to our step," while painful memories bring us down and make us forget how far we have come. A day can be good or bad based on what we choose to remember; so Jesus gave us some good memories.

At the "Last Supper" Jesus instituted the sacrament of Communion and said, "do this in remembrance of me" so we would never forget His sacrifice for our sins. Join us this week as we discuss how remembering what Jesus did in the past, brings eternal blessings into our present.

Rev. Jonathan V. Newton
Minister to Young Adults

The renowned historian, Dr. John Hope Franklin, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 25th at Duke University Hospital. Among other things, Dr. Franklin was a survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma Race Riot. He was ninety-four years old and left a legacy of scholarship and advocacy for civil rights. Please keep the family in prayer.

Dr. Franklin's book, "From Slavery to Freedom" is a classic account of history that remains relevant more than 60 years after being published. His scholarly  research is credited with helping Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP legal team win Brown v. Board of Education, the 1954 case that barred the doctrine of "separate but equal" in the nation's public schools." For more information  click here.
