This week at Thirsty Thursdays - Young Adult Bible Study

"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, suffering leads to [the] Dark Side." Jedi Master Yoda, "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace"
A poster for "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" shows an innocent young boy standing in the desert. However, he is casting the shadow of (and would eventually become) Darth Vader, one of the most sinister villains in the galaxy ( click here). Do not be deceived. Big sins can have small beginnings and temptation can overcome the best of us. Join is this week as we discuss the power of temptation and ways to avoid "The Dark Side."

The renowned historian, Dr. John Hope Franklin, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 25th at Duke University Hospital. Among other things, Dr. Franklin was a survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Oklahoma Race Riot. He was ninety-four years old and left a legacy of scholarship and advocacy for civil rights. Please keep the family in prayer.
Dr. Franklin's book, "From Slavery to Freedom" is a classic account of history that remains relevant more than 60 years after being published. His scholarly research is credited with helping Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP legal team win Brown v. Board of Education, the 1954 case that barred the doctrine of "separate but equal" in the nation's public schools." For more information click here.
