February 2012
Greetings

"One can never pay in gratitude: one can only pay 'in kind' somewhere else in life." ~Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Gratitude, kindness, compassion and love are so delicately intertwined; it is often impossible to untangle one from the other. Mindfulness helps us to recognize this paradigm of emotion and perhaps learn to pay "in kind" somewhere else in life.  Have you experienced gratitude? How will you pay it forward "in kind" this month?

Wishing you a month of kindness,

Pam

Is Stress ALWAYS Harmful?
I am often asked if stress is ALWAYS harmful.  You may be surprised that my answer is no, stress can be both beneficial and destructive. Stress, when used correctly, can be beneficial in achieving peak productivity and performance. The secret is knowing how to navigate and modulate helpful stress, also called "eustress" versus detrimental stress or "distress"

Stress MeterWe know, from studying athletes to CEO's, that there is a dynamic relationship between performance and stress/anxiety.  You may have experienced it yourself; when you feel actively engaged, thoughts flow creatively and difficult tasks seem easier to accomplish.  Athletes call this state of being "the zone".  Experts often suggest learning tools of mindfulness, meditation or relaxation to enter into "the zone" more frequently.

The Wall Stress Journal recently explored the idea of positive stress in an article,
"When Stress is Good for You"

Stress Resources' Meditation Tools

Sometimes you need a few tools to deepen or enhance your meditation practice.  Stress Resources offers two products that help you do just that: Our exclusive handcrafted labyrinths and our popular meditation CD.

Would you like a meditation tool that can enhance your creativity,
focus and problem solving during the day?  You may want to consider a lap labyrinth.
These beautiful,
handcrafted lap labyrinths are designed and made exclusively for Stress Resources. They are great for home, office, or school and are easily portable and surprisingly durable. Some individuals tuck a labyrinth in a tote bag to use in waiting rooms or during long medical appointments or keep one on their desk at work to create a more centered, productive mindset during stressful times.

 CD
Our popular meditation CD, Opening the Door to Meditation, is great for students as well as adults. It features 3 different 20 minute meditations, as well as an 8 minute Loving Kindness meditation. The CD can be downloaded to an mp3 player for portability.
