September 2010

Greetings!

You cannot eat a cluster of grapes at once, but it is very easy if you eat them one by one.
~Jacques Roumain

Concord GrapesAt our house I know the season is changing when the first cluster of Concord grapes ripens on our rustic wooden fence.  Concord grapes just seem to taste like late summer and early fall to me.  Labor Day weekend heralded our first-of-the-season clusters with their dusty bluish-purple color, heavenly aroma and distinctive sweet-sour taste; how can one not stop and savor an individual grape? After all, you cannot eat a whole cluster of grapes at once, just one at a time. Perhaps this is the teaching of the little Concord grape.  In the midst of a busy back-to-school time of the year this simple fruit beckons us to slow down, pay attention, and enjoy the moments...one by one by one by one.

Wishing you a mindful month,
Pam
