Greetings!
"It is time that we had uncommon schools, that we did not leave off our education when we begin to be men and women."
--Henry David Thoreau (1854)
This is one of my favorite times of the year...crisp nights, golden days, and leaves that seem to morph into jewel tones as we watch. It is also the time of the year that no matter our age, we feel like we should be preparing to "go back to school". Perhaps we need this reminder to help us find our own uncommon schools, as Thoreau suggests? Can the changes of the season, a mindful walk, a riveting sunrise, a conscious dialogue with a colleague, exploring an intriguing idea, or simply taking time to breathe in the crisp air be our new teachers in our uncommon schools of living?May you find many new teachers in your life this month as you "go back to school".
Take care,
Pam Pamela Katz Ressler, RN, BSN, HN-BC

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR): Evening and Daytime Options are available! |
|
Fall is a great time to "go back to school". Not in the traditional way, but learning a new way of relating to the world and oneself with a bit more compassion and effectiveness and a bit less reactivity and judgement. Here are some comments from former participants in the Stress Resources' MBSR program:
"The MBSR program has transformed the way I manage my life" (MBSR participant)
"These are not times for a 'business as usual' approach. I have found that the skills I learned in MBSR have made me a more effective and creative business leader" (MBSR participant)
"I made such positive improvements with my blood pressure that my doctor requested more MBSR program brochures for his other patients!" (MBSR participant)
"I have suffered from anxiety attacks for over 30 years and I finally feel I have some tools and strategies to truly make a difference in working with my anxiety" (MBSR participant)
"The MBSR program has changed the way I care for myself and my patients...thank you!" (MBSR participant)
"I have found more joy and peace in my life since completing the MBSR program. Working with what I can control and recognizing what I cannot control has made the difference".
(MBSR participant)
Stress Resources' popular Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) is based on the framework developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Center for Mindfulness, where I completed training in MBSR. Approved continuing education credit for healthcare professionals and flexible scheduling options are available. We are conscious of the cost of most MBSR programs and have worked very hard to provide an exceptional affordable value for you. We now include credit card options for registration! More on Labyrinths |
|
In the August newsletter I highlighted one of the labyrinths I discovered on my Midwestern vacation. I was fascinated by the unique qualities of the several labyrinths I located on the Worldwide Labyrinth Locator that were only a short distance from where I was vacationing. I have posted photos and descriptions of the labyrinths I visited on my summer labyrinth quest on my blog. Click here to read more... |

These are just a few of the comments I heard from those who have joined me in the past on trips to Kripalu Center, located in the beautiful Berkshire region of Massachusetts. Thanks to Toni Bradley, owner of Serenity Yoga, we have been able to arrange another Retreat and Renewal Weekend this year at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health beginning on Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25 Kripalu is the largest yoga and meditation center in the U.S. The Retreat and Renewal weekend is open to anyone who may be interested: women, men, couples and singles...you do not need to have taken any of my classes or workshops to join us.
