Greetings!
The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
The words above, written by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, seem to take on a special poignancy during August. We often feel we must hurry up and fit in all that we had hoped to do during the summer months in the remaining days of August. Can we feel as rewarded by simply being and not doing? Pick up a good book (maybe Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh?), find a comfortable chair, pour yourself a glass of lemonade, and breathe in your gift from the sea. Notice the quality of summer days as they unfold! As always, I love to hear from you, please continue to share your ideas and thoughts about how Stress Resources can continue to help you build resiliency and balance in your life.
Take care, Pam

These are just a few of the comments I heard from those who have joined me in the past on trips to Kripalu Center, located in the beautiful Berkshire region of Massachusetts. Thanks to Toni Bradley, owner of Serenity Yoga, we have been able to arrange another Retreat and Renewal Weekend this year at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health beginning on Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25 Kripalu is the largest yoga and meditation center in the U.S. The Retreat and Renewal weekend is open to anyone who may be interested: women, men, couples and singles...you do not need to have taken any of my classes or workshops to join us. If you want to cut costs by sharing a room, roommate matching is available by the reservation department at Kripalu.
Reservations at Kripalu are made by each individual, and will reflect 20% off the published Retreat and Renewal rate, credited at the time of check in, if we have at least 5 participants in our group. If we do not have at least 5 participants, the rate will be the published rate. There are many types of accommodations, ranging from dormitory style to private room and bath. "Retreat and Renewal" programming allows you do participate in numerous workshops, yoga and movement classes, meditate, reflect and most of all renew and recharge in the amazing autumn beauty of the Berkshires. Don't Forget to Discover a Labyrinth This Summer |
|
Last month I asked you to take your meditation on the road and discover a labyrinth this summer. The photo below is of one of the beautiful and varied labyrinths that I found on my midwestern vacation in July.
This labyrinth is located at St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana. It is in a classical pattern and was constructed of stepping stones over a base of black river rocks giving an Asian inspired aesthetic to the site. I have found a very enjoyable way of maintaining my meditation practice while traveling by locating a labyrinth to walk in the locale I am visiting. This is easy to do by using the free online Worldwide Labyrinth Locator, a service of the Labyrinth Society and Veriditas. Currently 3100 labyrinths in over 65 countries are listed on the locator. Remember to take a few photos of a labyrinth you walk this summer, and I will post them on the Stress Resources website in September. Let's see how many labyrinths we can discover! | |
