Greetings!
"No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn." Hal Borland
Although it seems like a particularly long winter here in the northeast, we know that spring does not skip its turn. As each day lengthens we can begin to see hope as the grass begins to peek through the melting snow. Enjoy the daily changes this month...to the landscape, the daylight, and moving ourselves out of hibernation and into spring. I have highlighted a few events coming up that may help usher you out of winter mode...an evening dialogue with Jon Kabat-Zinn, a community symposium on sustainablility (internally and externally), the monthly meditation maintenance sessions, as well as the upcoming spring session of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. As always, I welcome your comments, thoughts and suggestions to continue to make Stress Resources your resource for building and sustaining your strategies for resiliency.
Wishing you a mindful month, Pam

An Evening with Jon Kabat-Zinn |
|
Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn will be speaking in Worcester, MA on Wednesday, March 18 to benefit the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society (previously the Stress Reduction Clinic at University of Massachusetts Medical School). Jon founded the Stress Reduction Clinic and developed the framework for Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in 1979...2009 marks the 30th anniversary!
The March 18 event is entitled, This Analog Life: Reconnecting with What is Most Important in an Always Uncertain World. Here is Jon Kabat-Zinn's description of the evening: "Almost inevitably, we are entrained into the ever-increasing pace at which things are moving in this newly digital age of 24/7 connectivity, information saturation, and instant response expectations. The pace itself can degrade our capacity to pay attention undividedly. Coupled with the calamities befalling our society and the world that do not admit to wise solutions using old ways of thinking and acting, we are all at high risk of losing touch with ourselves in the most fundamental of ways. By befriending the present moment, and learning how to reside in awareness rather than getting caught up in agitated thinking and emotional upheavals, we have a chance to reclaim our lives, our bodies, and our minds, remember what is most important, and embody in our being and our doing what we most value. The evening will be dynamical and participatory, including considerable dialogue and inquiry with the audience."
