Nightingale Moment |
|
What are you doing on Saturday, May 12 at noon?
The core principles of holistic nursing are based on Florence Nightingale's philosophies of caring for the whole person - mind, body and spirit.
Nurses and healthcare workers around the world will be pausing to celebrate a "Nightingale Moment" to reflect on the principles of holistic nursing and Florence Nightingale (1820-1910),the founder of modern nursing.
For the past seven years, nurses worldwide had joined together during Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2007) to show their gratitude for Nightingale's great contributions to both modern health care and holistic nursing.
Need some ideas on how to celebrate a Nightingale Moment in your workplace? Take a look at the American Holistic Nurses Association website. Let's try and make Nightingale Moments happen more than once a year!

Greetings!
As our lives spin faster, it is necessary to maintain and regain our balance by consciously pausing for renewal within the busyness of our day. This does not have to be a large block of time, even a few minutes of mindful awareness of the breath or gentle mindful stretching will have the desired results.
During the month of May several opportunities exist to pause, reflect, and rebalance...I have included just a few for you to consider. The monthly meditation drop in class will be held on Wednesday, May 2 and we will explore ways to include nature in our mediation practice. On May 12, at noon, join holistic nurses worldwide in a Nightingale Moment to reflect on body, mind and spirt...and you don't need to be a nurse to participate! Also in May, Wright Tavern Center in Concord, MA is hosting two workshops on labyrinths: their history, their use in healing and meditation, as well as labyrinth siting and design.
So, as the spring weather beckons us to speed up and do more, also remember to pause, reflect and rebalance...your body, mind and spirit will thank you!
Take care, Pam
