Greetings!

March...a month for mindfulness. Even though it is blustery and frigid in the Northeast as I write this newsletter, signs of spring are trying to get our attention. Being mindful of the natural changes in the outer landscape, as well as our inner landscape, allows us to regain some balance in the busyness of our daily lives.

Try this simple mindfulness exercise this month:
Notice one object in nature -- perhaps the branches of a tree, emerging bulbs, or even the packed snow along the roadside. Spend one minute (yes, just 60 seconds) examining this object and allowing your body to relax and your breathing to slow. Repeat this exercise several times over the next month giving the same natural object your mindful attention. You will be surpised by the subtle changes you will notice by mindfully observing for "just" one minute.

Mindfulness is the theme of this month's newsletter. I have included several features and opportunities for you to learn more about mindfulness and how to incorporate it into your life. I would love to have you, my newsletter readers, share your special tips for bringing mindfulness into your life. Please e-mail me your ideas and suggestions and I will feature a selection of the tips in an upcoming newsletter.

Warm wishes for a very mindful month of March,

Pam

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) received national attention last week in a Morning Edition segment on National Public Radio. If you missed the broadcast, you can listen now by clicking on the link below.

Spring MBSR Program
Multitasking

If the above story on MBSR has piqued your interest, Stress Resources will be offering a Spring session of MBSR beginning the week of April 23. The Stress Resources' MBSR program is modeled after Jon Kabat-Zinn's program at UMass Center for Mindfulness and is conveniently located in beautiful, historic Concord Center. A special highlight of the Stress Resources' MBSR program is the use of an outdoor labyrinth for walking meditation instruction.

Classes meet weekly for 8 weeks, with a choice of Tuesday evening or Friday morning sessions. Flexible scheduling is available. Continuing education credit is available for nurses and other health professionals.

Registration is currently underway for the Spring Session of MBSR. To register or to learn more about the MBSR program, please click the link below.
