New Year Greetings!

Happy New Year...I wish you all a year of peace and happiness. As we turn the page on the calendar, many of us feel compelled to make resolutions for major changes in our lives. Unfortunately, we are usually met with disappointment when we fail to live up to the lofty, unrealistic expectations we set for ourselves.

Experts in behavioral change suggest that it takes several months to integrate change into our lives. This seems daunting to many of us, as we want change INSTANTLY! Why not change your strategy this year? If you want to increase your stress management skills this year, take on one small change at a time, for instance remembering to "belly breathe" at each stop sign on your commute, or having a mindful snack each day. Add other small changes slowly and only when the previous change is well established. Try this gentle, compassionate way of working with change and you will feel successful rather than disappointed with your resolutions.

Wishing you a year of peace, happiness, compassion and successful resolutions,

Pam

Winter MBSR Program
Stress

The Winter Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program will be starting in only a few weeks, on January 30 (P.M.)and February 2 (A.M.). This program is based on Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's model developed at the UMass Medical School, and currently the gold-standard for stress reduction programs at academic medical centers in this country.

Stress Resources offers both evening and morning classes to meet the scheduling needs of a variety of individuals. Classes meet for 2-hours once a week for 8 weeks in Concord, MA. Groups range in age from 18-90+ and are open to men and women, health professionals, individuals wanting to strengthen their inner resources of resiliency for working with life transitions, chronic illness, work/life balance, job stress, and other stressors.

Classes are small, 15 students maximum, to allow for individualized instruction. Continuing education hours are available for nurses who participate in the program.

Registration is now underway for both the evening session and the morning session. There are still a few spaces available! Click on the link below to find out more information about the program and to receive a registration brochure.

Stress Management Article

Recently, I was asked to write an article on "Stress Management for Nurses" for a national nursing journal, entitled, Beginnings, published by the American Holistic Nurses Association.

The article will be published in the Winter edition of the magazine. While this article was written for nurses, I feel the information is relevant for anyone who is juggling multiple demands in their lives. I have included a link to the article below.
