Greetings!

If you are already feeling stressed by the upcoming Holiday season....this is the newsletter for you! This month I will be highlighting ways of renewal, so essential for our overall wellbeing especially during times busyness.

I came across the term, "de-tribing" recently, meaning to occasionally remove oneself from one's "tribe" (family, work, community) to renew one's inner resources. I love this idea! It does not mean removing oneself permanently from the "tribe", but rather acknowledging the power of self-renewal and consciously seeking a time of disconnecting with others to reconnect with self. The "tribe" benefits by having a more effective, more productive, and happier "tribe member".

Check out the features I have included in this month's newsletter, all suggesting ways of "de- tribe" to become a more present "tribe member" upon your return. I invite you to send me your own "de- tribing" tips, to share with others in a future newsletter.

Wishing you moments of renewal and "de-tribing" amid the busyness,

Pam

Unwind in the Windward Islands
Dominica

For the ultimate in "de-tribing" renewal, plan on joining me January 20-27 on a trip to a tropical paradise....a pristine Caribbean island gem...Dominica.
My colleague, Peggy Coonley, president of Serendipity Traveler, has put together an amazing array of adventures for women. I am honored to have been asked to develop and lead Explorations in Wellbeing Workshops as an integral component of Serendipity Traveler's Conscious Relaxation excursions.

For those of you who have wished you could attend some of my workshops and programs, but live in other parts of the country, this will be a great opportunity to work with me on tools of wellbeing in a small group setting or meet with me individually.

Click on the link below to read more about our trip to Dominica. We can only accommodate 12 travelers....so don't delay in making your reservations!

Beginner's Meditation Retreat

One way to "de-tribe", is to attend a silent meditation retreat. I find that even a day long retreat gives one an incredible sense of renewal and equanimity in the face of busyness.

I highly recommend the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center and the workshops and retreats they offer. While not a residential retreat center, they provide an affordable, accessible way to experience the balance and centeredness that retreating from one's daily life allows.

A beginner's workshop will be held on Saturday, November 11 from 10 AM - 4 PM at the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center, located at 331 Broadway, Cambridge, MA. Beginner's retreats are for individuals with no prior retreat experience and involves instruction, as well as sitting and walking meditations.

Finding the Deep River Within
Deep River

A wonderful new book found its way to my desk this month. It is entitled, Finding the Deep River Within: A Woman's Guide To Recovering Balance and Meaning in Everyday Life, by Boston area author Abby Seixas. This is a definite read for those looking for ways to "slow down and reclaim their lives from to- do lists".

I was struck by Abby's sense of mindfulness, humor, and wisdom she so skillfully weaves into her book. When I finished reading Finding the Deep River Within, I felt Abby had spoken to me through the pages, and I admit I wished I had written this wonderful book for women. It turns out that I am not the only person who is impressed with Abby's writing, as she is scheduled to be a guest on the Today Show this week.

While Abby does not refer to it as "de- tribing" in her book, she does encourage women to consciously set aside alone time each day, something she calls "taking a time-in". This is a must-read for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the speed of life.
