For those of you have asked me when I will be
offering a beginner workshop....here's your chance. I
will be offering a one-night workshop on
Wednesday,
May 24 at Concord Carlisle Adult and
Community
Education. I have included more information below.
In recognition of Nurses Week, I
congratulate
Emerson Hospital for initiating a creative and holistic
model of stress reduction and coping for their
pediatric patients in the emergency room and
inpatient unit. I have included an article about their
use of Pediatric Coping Kits in this newsletter.
And finally, you may want to check out a special
event being offered in June by the Cambridge Insight
Meditation Center. Meditation teacher to Coach Phil
Jackson, George Mumford, will be presenting a
workshop on the "Power of Perception".
This should
be a wonderful participatory workshop with an expert
in the the field of personal and organizational
development.
As always, I am eager to hear your comments,
suggestions, and ideas for workshops, retreats or
programs. My goal is to assist you in making
tools of self-care and stress management as

Coping Kits for Pediatric Patients
|
In recognition of Nurses Week, May 6-
12, I would like
to spotlight an innovative program that encompasses
the multidisciplinary, holistic nature of healthcare at
Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. The Pediatric
Intervention Team at Emerson Hospital has recently
introduced "Coping Kits" for pediatric
patients in the emergency department and admitted
to the hospital. These kits contain developmentally
appropriate items that help induce relaxation, deep
breathing, distraction, and stress reduction among
their youngest patients.
Kudos to Emerson Hospital and their Pediatric
Intervention Team for addressing the whole patient --
body, mind and spirit, in their care.
A creative way to encourage patient engagement
and
empowerment Click on the link below to read more
about this program.
