Greetings!

Welcome to the August edition of News from Stress Resources.

August.... a time for taking it a bit slower, allowing ourselves a time for reflection before the hustle and bustle of a new academic year. August is a great time to practice deliberate mindfulness, using the cue of the more relaxed pace of summer to remind us to open to the present moment Noticing what is around us -- when was the last time you looked at a Monarch butterfly, listened to a cricket, tasted an ear of local corn, smelled the ocean, or felt the cool water of a lake on your skin? August is exploding with mindful experiences, if we can only slow down enough to be present, even for just a moment.

As a way to step back and find some space and relaxation during the hot and hazy, but often not too lazy days of August, I will be offering two workshops over the next two weeks. The August drop-in session will be this Thursday, August 11 at the Wright Tavern from 7-9 PM. This session is for former students or others with some previous meditation experience.

Additionally, I will be leading an evening workshop on Wednesday, August 17 from 6-8 PM at Walden Pond in Concord. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is necessary for this unique opportunity to experience mindfulness in nature. There are still openings for this evening of mindfulness, but pre-registration is necessary by August 15.

As always, I welcome your comments, suggestions and feedback for newsletter topics, as well as future programming.

Wishing you a mindful August,

Pam
