Greetings!
Welcome to the July edition of News from
Stress
Resources.
Summer is finally upon us....time to kick back and
hopefully slow down a bit from our normal routine.
As we live more climate-controlled, technology-
driven, time-sensitive lives; it is sometimes easy to
forget that our bodies need time to slow down during
the hot summer months. While it may not be as
physically necessary to take things slower as it once
was during the dog days of summer, perhaps by
slowing our pace a bit we can help our bodies and
minds regain some natural healing and resiliency.
The summer provides us with an opportunity to take
our meditation practice outdoors. If you haven't had
the opportunity to try walking meditation on a
labyrinth...give it a try! Did you know that swimming
in a rhythmic fashion, with awareness of the breath
is a wonderful mindful meditation exercise? You may
want to try kayaking or canoeing in a mindful way;
with attention on the way the paddles enter and exit
the water. There are a myriad of opportunities to
bring mindfulness into our summer lives! I would love
to hear some of your summer favorites.
For a wonderful outdoor meditation respite in the
summer months, I would like to remind you of the
evening workshop I will be offering on Wednesday,
August 17 from 6-8 PM at Walden Pond in Concord.
There are still openings for this evening of
mindfulness, but pre-registration is necessary by
August 14.
As always, I welcome your comments, suggestions
and feedback for newsletter topics, as well as future
programming.
Wishing you a relaxing, renewing July,
Pam
