Greetings!

Welcome to the June edition of News from Stress Resources.

June....the month of many endings.....the end of the school year, the end of the fiscal year, graduations and retirements. June is also the month of "commencements". We use the word "commencement" interchangeably with the word "graduation". In fact, the word commencement, as defined by Merriam-Webster, is "to have or make a beginning....to begin to be". Perhaps by changing our perspective we can begin to see June and the hustle and bustle of endings, as also a time for beginnings.

The summer is a perfect time to begin to explore or to continue to explore mindfulness. I will be offering several opportunities to meet the unique needs of each individual client and student this summer. Please check out these offerings on the Stress Resourceswebsite.

During the summer months, I will not be teaching a session of the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program. Instead, due to many requests, I will be offering private, semi-private, and small group instruction geared to the individual needs of the student(s). This is a great way to gather a group of friends or co-workers and explore stress management techniques together. For those who "just don't have time" for an 8-week course during the rest of year, this is an opportunity to work with me in a more flexible, concentrated format. I am calling these summer intensives....Time For ME(Mindfulness Education). Flexible scheduling and locations are available for individuals and groups.

The month of June does provide us with a time to breathe, slow down and perhaps smell the roses that are budding and quickly opening each day. I hope that you will take advantage of all this season has to offer and perhaps begin to explore opportunities for mindfulness.

Best wishes for a June filled with commencements,

Pam

Time for ME Workshops

Summer is a great time to take time for ME.....Mindfulness Education. Get a group of friends, co- workers, neighbors or family members together for a one time workshop or a series of programs addressing stress and coping in our lives. I will be available at select times during the summer months to provide both individual and small group work in mindfulness and stress management. If you find that you NEVER have time for yourself during the rest of the year.....make it a point to schedule a Time for ME private or semi-private session or small group workshop now.

I am happy to work with you to meet your needs with specific tools of stress management for yourself or your small group. Dates are still available in June, July and August. Give yourself permission to take time for Mindfulness Education this summer!

To schedule a private or semi-private session or to get more information on workshops, give me a call at 978-369-5243 or e-mail me at: [email protected]

Cultivating Forgiveness

Some of you may have heard about an innovative project introduced at Stanford University several years ago......The Forgiveness Project. This has been the focus of ongoing studies by researchers at Stanford....can we decrease anger, hurt, depression and stress by cultivating forgiveness, both for ourselves and others?

The work of mindfulness addresses this by working with feelings, emotions and allowing ourselves to let go. When we work with loving kindness meditations we attempt to allow these emotions of forgiveness to arise. Dr. Fred Luskin, director of the Forgiveness Project at Stanford University, and senior fellow at the Center on Conflict and Negotiation at Stanford University, will be presenting a workshop in the Boston area on June 18, on ways to cultivate forgiveness for ourselves and others. Dr. Luskin is the author of the highly- acclaimed book, "Forgive for Good".
