Greetings!

Welcome to the March edition of News from Stress Resources.

I am always pleased to see stress management and integrative healthcare highlighted as prominent topics in mass media -- more exposure means more awareness! This month proves no exception, as both Reader's Digest (I'm not kidding) and Time Magazine ran articles on these topics.

The use of stress management tools within the workplace is a topic being also being highlighted in many business journals, websites and national newspapers. The business community is increasingly interested in ways to increase productivity, job satisfaction, and employee retention in a climate of lay-offs and downsizing. Increasing healthcare costs to businesses is a driving force in the recent interest in stress reduction: a powerful incentive to seek out innovative ways to manage skyrocketing health insurance premiums!

Some of you may remember that I reviewed Jon Kabat-Zinn's new book in last month's newsletter. I am pleased to let you know that Jon will be presenting a talk and book-signing on Friday evening, April 8, at the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center in Cambridge, MA. A great way to listen to some of Jon's wisdom in person.

As always, I welcome your suggestions, comments and feedback on this newsletter. Please feel free to forward it on to friends or associates who may be interested.

Take Care,

Pam

Find Peace of Mind

This article by Michael Castleman, "37 Ways to Find Peace of Mind", appears in the March 2005 Reader's Digest. You never know where I might find something of interest for this newsletter!

The article has some very practical ways to decrease stress and add balance to your life. Some of the suggestions will sound familiar if you have taken one of my workshops or classes and others will be new. Try a few for variety and let me know what you think!

Job Stress

Like many newspapers and journals, The Chicago Tribune highlights the cost of employee stress to businesses nationwide in this article on Job Stress. The statistics are staggering: 46% higher healthcare costs for employees who report a stressful job compared to those who don't report their job as stressful (reported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health).

Stress Resources provides on-site employee workshops and programs to help businesses address this issue in cost-effective ways. We would love to partner with you in providing a resource for your employees work-life balance. You can reach us at 978-369-5243 or by e-mail at pressler@stressresources.com
