From the Principal's Desk Dear Parents Guardians and Friends of OLMC School, The next few weeks will bring new excitement to OLMC as we prepare to open the Year of Faith in union with our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI. Throughout his pontificate he has been calling for a renewal in the faith - a new Pentecost - with this Year being a culmination of much of his work. Please pray for our universal Church, the parish and school, and all of our families, to be open to the graces God has prepared for us. The Year of Faith is celebrating two anniversaries of events that we are asked to focus on with particular attention: the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church which was a major fruit of the Council. Following is a link to the Year of Faith website. The tab "Benedict XVI" on the navigation bar has the announcement of the Year of Faith with explanations and meditations that would be wonderful spiritual reading. It is called "Porta Fidei" or "The Door of Faith." http://www.annusfidei.va/content/novaevangelizatio/en.html May God's goodness to us deepen our gratitude and our joy, drawing our friends and co-workers to the Fount of all goodness. With prayers for your families,
Sister Dominic |
October is The Month of Rosary

This is a great opportunity to pray the Rosary if you have never tried it before. Rosaries and prayer books are provided. OLMC's Cornerstone Dinner On October 20th, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School will be hosting the Cornerstone Dinner which will be held at Saint Michael Hall. You should have received an invitation in your Wednesday folder. If not, please call the school and we will get one to you. The Cornerstone Dinner is a celebration of Catholic education and a wonderful showcase for our school. We are planning an evening of delicious dining, prepared by Jeanne Simko (parent of alumni) and entertainment. Mrs. George will bring in the choir for a short recital and Mrs. Thames will have a display of her students' artwork. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Lisa Spiller, professor of marketing at Christopher Newport University and parent of two alumni and one current student of OLMC.
