OLMC Cub Scout Pack 242, will have the May Pack meeting on Wednesday, 23 May 2011, from 6:30 pm - 8 pm in the OLMC Gym. Boys currently in Kindergarten thru 4th Grade who are interested in joining or seeing what Cub Scouts is all about are encouraged to attend. Please arrive at 6 pm. Any boy who joins the Pack at the May meeting, can participate in the Summertime Pack events: June - District Day Camp at Newport News Park, Resident Camp (2nd-4th grade), Harbor Park Scout night at the Tides; July - Resident Camp (2nd-4th grade), Peninsula Pilots Game, Newport News Park Raingutter Regatta; August - Resident Camp (2nd-4th grade), Noland Trail Hike, and Bowling. There will also be signups and registration at the August Bowling event, and the August Pack Round-up. Details will be included in the August back to school flyer. 2011-2012 Science Fair Winners!

On April 19th, a passion for science and knowledge was on display in the school gymnasium. Every class in the elementary school, and every Middle School student contributed hours of study and experimentation to the very successful event. OLMC Will Have a Pre-K 3!
OLMC is excited to offer a Pre-K 3 program for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year! Students will have the option of attending class 3 or 5 days per week, from 8am-12pm. In addition, we will offer a "stay and play" option from 12-3pm for students that would like to attend a full day of preschool. May Procession & Grandparents' Day
May is the month devoted to the Blessed Mother. In celebration, we will hold our annual May Procession on Friday, May 4th. Students will process into Church after morning prayers, laying flowers around the statue of Mary. Mass will be at 8:15a.m., followed by the crowning of Mary. Traditionally, students bring potted flowers that are planted on the school grounds for the warm weather months. Details on student dress, flowers and Grandparents' Day activities follow:
Student Dress:
Grade 2:First Communion attire or Easter dresses/suits
Grade 8:Formal attire
Boys: dress slacks/shirt/tie/jacket optional
Girls: dress or skirt-knee length/no tank or spaghetti
straps/no exposed midriff
All other grades wear Mass day uniform
Flowers (students bring to class Friday morning):
Pre-K through 7: Students are asked to bring some type of potted flower (Impatiens, Begonias, Geraniums, Vinca, Petunias, etc.)
Eighth Grade: Roses (provided by OLMC School)
Grandparents' Day Activities: Grandparents and special guests are invited to attend the May Procession, 8:15am Mass and the crowning of Mary. After Mass, grandparents and special guests will be escorted to the school for special activities. Dismissal for the day will begin at 10:50am. It is an 11:00am dismissal for all students. YMCA aftercare will begin at 11:15a.m. No hot lunch will be served.

Breakfast Tour - May 1, 2012
Start your day the Mount Carmel way! We invite you to tell your friends and join Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for a free breakfast and school tour on May 1, 2012. There will be plenty of food for thought, including a brief presentation, a Q&A session, and an opportunity to visit the classrooms and meet the teachers. 2012 Diocesan Middle School Youth Rally
The Middle School Youth Rally is a one-day gathering of all middle school (grades 6- 8) youth from across the Diocese of Richmond. This event is intended to be a high-energy day filled with opportunities to gather as a Catholic Diocesan community that will integrate fun and community building with the richness of our Catholic faith. The cost is $35. Our middle school youth rally will be held on Sunday, May 20 at Peninsula Catholic School, in Newport News. Registration is now open, and has been extended until May 1st. Diocesan Middle School Day Camp
 A Diocesan Middle School Day Camp will be held July 16-20, 2012, at Christ the King Church, in Norfolk, VA. The camp will bring together middle school youth together from area parishes to grow in community, understanding of their faith, and their relationship with Christ. Middle School Camp activities include games, service, prayer, water sports, community building and fostering a deeper spiritual understanding on specific topics. The cost is $95 for participants.
