Sammy B and Sean Bretz
Come Home

It's been a week filled with joyful homecomings for the people our Savannah Council serves.  On Wednesday, December 14th, President Bob Gephart and Vice President Michael Jordan helped welcome home our adopted surface warship, the USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58) as the ship ended its six-month deployment to Africa.  We watched as more than 200 sailors were reunited with their families on the pier at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, FL.  Click here to see the news report Michael filed on the homecoming for Jacksonville TV station WJXT.

Sean Bretz HomecomingMeanwhile, area Coast Guardsman Sean Bretz, who suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this year, is back home in Savannah thanks to help from the Coast Guard Air Station here and volunteers from our Council.  Click here to watch WTOC-TV 11's moving report on Sean's long-awaited homecoming.

2011 Savannah Council Christmas Party

Wow- what an awesome job Danica Grone and Mick McCay did putting together our Council's annual Christmas party this year!  More than 70 of our members and their friends gathered into Billy's Place above McDonough's on Chippewa Square in downtown Savannah on Friday, Dec. 9th to enjoy tasty refreshments and piano music.  We also collected toys for the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program benefiting needy families in our area.  Click here to see photos from the party on our Council's Facebook page.
