Great Time at November Dinner Meeting
Thanks to all who came to dinner a week early last night for our November monthly dinner meeting (we meet on the 15th in order to avoid conflicts with the Thanksgiving holiday) at the Pirate's House. Savannah native and Citadel grad Capt. Pat Wylly gave a detailed and fascinating presentation on 100 years of US naval aviation. LCpl Charles Nelson, A Marine from Hunter Army Airfield, joined one of our Sea Cadets to cut a US Marine Corps birthday cake for desert. We were also pleased to have as our guests Chief of the Boat Kevin Scarff and Senior Chief Mike McRea from the Gold Crew of our adopted submarine USS Alaska.
WTOC-TV 11 covered the meeting on their late night and early morning newscasts. Click here to watch the clip on our Youtube channel. |
Books for Future Sea Service Leaders

Savannah Council President Bob Gephart visited the JNROTC units at Johnson High School and Jenkins High School today, and presented them with copies of Navy League of the United States (the history and mission of our organization) and A Sailor's History of the U. S. Navy. Bob also visited the NROTC unit at Savannah State University and gave them the same two books plus a copy of Mess Night Traditions. |
A special thanks to the crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Staten Island, who are headed back to their home port of Atlantic Beach, NC following a maintenance period here in Savannah. Following our reception at Kevin Barry's honoring the Staten Island, the crew presented an autographed life ring which will hang proudly alongside other such sea service mementos in the upstairs bar. |
