Reminder:  Coast Guard Reception Wednesday at Kevin Barry's

  

USCGC Staten IslandA reminder:  please join us for a reception honoring the crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Staten Island, which is wrapping up regularly scheduled maintenance at Savannah Marine Repair and preparing to leave our city.  We will gather upstairs at Kevin Barry's Irish Pub from 5-6:30pm tomorrow evening, Wednesday, November 9th.

TAKE NOTE: Our monthly dinner meeting this month will take place a week early to avoid conflicts with the Thanksgiving holiday. We will meet at 6pm on Tuesday, November 15th at the Pirate's House on East Broad Street in downtown Savannah.  The cost is $22.  Reservations must be turned in to Sybil Cannon by noon on Friday, November 11th.  Email Sybil at RSalty2@att.net.

 

Capt. Pat WyllyOur speaker this month will be Savannah native and 26-year veteran naval aviator Capt. Pat Wylly, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations for the Commander, Navy Region Southeast. Capt. Wylly is a Citadel alumnus and a graduate of the Navy's "Top Gun" fighter weapons school who has accumulated more than 4,000 flight hours and 690 carrier arrested landings in the A-7E Corsair and F/A-18C Hornet. His numerous carrier deployments include stints aboard the carriers USS Nimitz, USS America, USS John F. Kennedy, USS Harry S. Truman, and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Capt. Wylly will speak about this year's centennial of US Naval Aviation.

 

During the meeting, LCpl Charles Nelson, USMC, of Beach and Terminal Operations Company B at Hunter Army Airfield, will help cut our Marine Corps Birthday Cake.  Also present as our guests will be LT Brendan Shields, Commanding Officer of US Coast Guard Cutter Staten Island, and the cutter's Sailor of the Quarter, SN Joshua Martin, as well as USS Alaska (SSGN 732) Blue Crew Commanding Officer CDR Robert Wirth and Chief of the Boat CMC Kevin Scharff.

In addition to the program the annual election of officers and directors will be held befor the meeting.  Here is the complete slate once again:
