Photos and News Coverage of Last Night's Dinner Meeting

Capt. Cottrell and Bill CathcartIf you missed our council's monthly dinner meeting last night at the Pirate's House, you missed a great meal, good fellowship, and an informative presentation.

Our speaker, Capt. Donna Cottrell, former CO of Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, told us about her new job as CO of HITRON, the armed Coast Guard helo squadron which keeps drug smugglers from reaching our nation's shores.  Our guests included Father Patrick van Durme, a US Army chaplain based at Hunter Army Airfield, and our two most recent Coast Guard Sailor of the Quarter honorees from Marine Safety Unit Savannah and Coast Guard Air Station Savannah.  We presented the Savannah Sea Cadet of the Year award to LPO Michael W. McCumber, Jr., and the Navy League Cadet of the Year award to LC3 cutting the cake Oct. 26Rajah Bannister.  We wrapped things up with a tasty Navy birthday cake cut by John Innes and LC3 Bannister.  Finally, we sold 22 of our 24 USS Samuel B. Roberts Christmas ornaments to help raise funds for the ship's family support group!
