Coast Guard Night at the Sand Gnats

Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011

6 PM

Grayson Stadium

1401 E. Victory Dr.

Be Sure to Save the Date!

A great opportunity to spend time with our local Coast Guard personnel and their families. This event consists of a picnic dinner - hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, cookies, and drinks from 6 PM to 7 PM, followed by our league leading Savannah Sand Gnats playing the Asheville Tourists.

USCG Air Station Savannah is planning a helicopter flyby during the National Anthem and one of the Coasties will throw out the first pitch. The picnic will provide lots of time for you to meet and talk with Coasties from Air Station Savannah, Marine Safety Unit, Station Tybee, Aids to Navigation Tybee and USCGC Tarpon. With all the recent transfers within these units, this may be the first time many of them will have the opportunity to see much of Savannah - so, let's show them our welcome and support!

Tickets will be sold at the gate, and will cost only $20 for adults and $12 for children under 13 - this includes picnic dinner and the game.

Please RSVP to Cliff Angers at cangers@aol.com by August 10. See you there!

Tee up for the 3rd Annual Savannah Charity Golf Tournament benefitting the Southeastern Firefighters' Burn Foundation. This means every shot you take helps provide assistance for burn patients and their families when tragedy strikes.

Following the explosion an fire at Savannah Sugar Refinery, many of the victims were treated at the Joseph M. Still Jr. Burn Center in Augusta, Ga..

The Savannah Sugar Refinery Retirees Club started this tournament to raise money for the Burn Center. In the past two years, we have contributed $ 14,000.00.

The Burn Center is used by many of our military personnel. Each year we ask companies and individuals to support a military team in this event. Last year we had twelve ( 12 ) military teams from all branches. We hope to surpass that number this year.

We invite you to enter a team of your friends or clients.

  • 1- four man team        $ 320.00
  • 1- Sponsor Sign            $ 100.00

We also need door prizes, and gifts for the players.

Call or e-mail Joe Tillman for entry forms, or with any questions.
