Greetings!
Want to know an easy, fun and convenient way to support our club on an on-going basis? Play Gold Rush! It's our weekly 50-50 draw. Once you play, your tag number is in the draw every week. If your tag is drawn and you haven't paid your $2 that week, the winnings go back in the pot for the next draw. Your $2/week supports our lunch program. Read more here and get started - here's the easy part...you can play on-line using Paypal!
Have you played Gold Rush but can't remember your tag number? Do you want to start playing and supporting the Club? Call Marilyn 506-634-2011 x 224. Thank you for your continued support ~ it's needed more than ever this year.

Our CITs have been treated to Body Blast training courtesy of our YMCA. Our CITS will be passing along these skills to our children at the Club.
Time to Register for our After-School Programs Our after-school programs begin September 6th. Please share this information with parents who would like their children to experience our unique program including activities like music, yoga, science, drama, cooking, arts & crafts, and video games. (sorry...we don't offer the same fun program for adults yet, just the kids!!)
Everything Chocolate
The Club has once again partnered with the Saint John Community Loan Fund to teach a group of entrepreneurs how to run a business. The group has formed their own chocolate making business called "Everything Chocolate".
They have been selling bags and suckers at Brunswick Square and various events at the Club. If you see the children selling their chocolate, please support them and your sweet tooth at the same time!
The Busker's Festival was such a great success. Thank you to all our volunteers and to everyone who came d own during the festival to partake in the many activities. We really appreciate your support. And a special thank you to Market Square/The Hardman Group and especially Heather Peterson!
Our summer program has been a wonderful experience for our children so far. They've been gardening in the community garden, have visited a farm in Hampton, have been working with Sue Hooper creating artwork and just the other day the children came back from picking strawberries and proceeded to make (and enjoy) strawberry shortcake. How fun is that?
It's not too late for children to join in on the fun. We have added two weeks to the summer program and we will be running from August 22 to September 2nd. It's not too late to register!!
Exterior Mural Project Begins! Fred Harrison and Sue Hooper have been commissioned to create a mural along the outsi de of our building. (here's a rough sketch of the concept). The mural will celebrate & commemorate 110 years of history - our Club is the first Boys & Girls Club in Canada, dating back to 1900. Our artist's concept has captured the children and youth over the last 100 years including their clothing, toys and activities!
It looks like the painting will be getting started this week. The children will have many opportunities to help with this exciting project. Come by and take a look at this work of art in progress.
Did you know? August is National Admit your are Happy Month. Really. No kidding! Take a look! And speaking of being happy, we came across a terrific program on the CBC website. Interested in living right? Of course you are. Here's some tips to get you started and keep you going!
I just heard about a really unique fundraising idea for the club. A Grade 12 Rothesay High student came up with a "charitable twist" on an annual event which has been going on for decades. Read all about the upcoming Kids FORE kids event.
