CEO JH addresses gatheringA strong Q4 validates that Greenville County has what it takes to attract coveted new jobs and investment, as the GADC announced 1,700 new jobs and $100 million in investment this quarter. Making an official announcement to locate in Greenville County was Scio Diamond Technology Corporation, while Honeywell International, Bosch Rexroth and TD Bank announced significant expansions.

Scio Diamond, which employs a patent-protected chemical deposition process to produce high-quality, single-crystal diamonds with the identical chemical, physical and optical properties as diamonds found in the earth, will establish its corporate HQ and manufacturing operations at the NEXT Innovation Center, generating 70 new jobs.

 

Honeywell International will expand operations in Greer with a $25 million investment that will generate 30 new jobs. The Greer facility, first established in 1982, provides a broad range of repair and overhaul services and capabilities for propulsion engines and component repair for commercial and military customers.

Expanding its existing hydraulics manufacturing operations in Greenville County is Bosch Rexroth, whose $80 million investment is expected to generate at least 160 new jobs, while
TD Bank will add 1,400 new jobs at a new Greenville regional hub. The $17 million renovation of three buildings overlooking I-85, totaling 300,000 square feet of corporate space, will begin in early 2012. Positions include a range of corporate and operational positions.

Alliance, GADC Host Workforce Development Expert

The GADC and Upstate SC Alliance recently joined forces to present information on Greenville's successful workforce development partnership with the National Fund for Workforce Solutions (NFWS) to several dozen industry, business, media and community leaders.

 

The GADC's workforce development efforts focus on building a sustainable workforce for local employers through collaborative initiatives such as the Greenville Works program. The Alliance and GADC co-hosted Fred Dedrick, executive director of the NFWS, for a best practices presentation and subsequent Q&A forum with attendees. Dedrick has more than 30 years of experience in addressing local and regional workforce needs, and oversees roughly $150 million in federal and state workforce funding. He has held leadership roles in attracting new businesses and developing industry-specific education programs.

Bosch Rexroth Expands for Fifth Time

The GADC and Bosch Rexroth announced the fifth expansion of its hydraulics manufacturing operations in Greenville County, including plans to invest $80 million and add at least 160 new jobs. 
Berend Bracht, Bosch Rexroth's regional president for the Americas, joined South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and more than 100 business and political leaders at the November announcement.
